The Roseanne spinoff, The Conners, is getting closer to its fall premiere, and the show just announced two new faces we’ll see this season.

Johnny Galecki will appear on The Conners as his Roseanne character David in the first season of new show. But this time, he’s not coming alone. Juliette Lewis will also appear on the show as Blue, the girlfriend David told Darlene about last season.

At this point, we don’t know too much about what their appearance on the show will look like. And as The Hollywood Reporter states, it’s not been announced if we can expect to see David and Blue in more than one episode this coming season.

Roseanne was unable to snag Galecki for more than one episode last season, as his work on The Big Bang Theory on ABC’s rival network CBS, only allowed him time for a single-episode appearance. Galecki will still be very much tied up with Big Bang work as the show heads into its final season this year, but we can hope that CBS will be a bit more lenient and let Galecki show up in more than one episode of The Conners.

It’s also unclear if Lewis will only appear in episodes alongside of Galecki, or if she’ll have a longer engagement on the show. Lewis posted pictures of herself, Galecki, and Sarah Gilbert on her Instagram, and we’re pretty excited to see what drama David and Blue bring to the Conner house.

The Conners will be starting a bit after where last season of Roseanne left things, with one big change. Roseanne Barr’s character was written off of the show after tweeting out racist things about a former senior advisor to President Barack Obama. On The Conners, her character will have died after a struggle with opioid addiction.

It’s a heavy topic for a 30-minute sitcom, but the writers of Roseanne have always been able to tackle intense aspects of real life with heart and humor. We’re hopeful that they’ll be able to do the same in The Conners.

The Conners returns to ABC on October 16.
