The Conjuring universe is celebrating their box office smash spinoff The Nun, and it appears the third Conjuring film finally is moving forward.

Even some of the most die-hard horror fans can find themselves a bit shocked at how incredibly popular The Conjuring franchise has been. With 2 main stories, 3 released spin-offs, and more on the way, the stories from real-life demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren’s past have come together to create one of the most fun and engaging cinematic universes out there today. Still, with the franchise experiencing so much success with its spinoffs, some fans were worried that they’d have a long wait ahead of them for The Conjuring 3.

Happily, that doesn’t appear to be the case. As producer Peter Safran told Cinema Blend, not only can we expect Annabelle 3 and The Crooked Man movie to come our way soon, but production is currently planned to start in 2019 on The Conjuring 3.

As Safran explained, “[The Conjuring 3] is actually coming along great. David Leslie Johnson is working on the screenplay, and I feel pretty confident they will have that one up and running next year.”

According to Cinema Blend, not only are they planning to begin production on The Conjuring 3 next year, but Safran told the website that they hope to release the film in 2020. Though David Leslie Johnson, the screenwriter of The Conjuring 2 is returning to the franchise, it’s not yet been made clear if James Wan would return for the film, especially given his commitments to the Aquaman movie.

It’s also unclear which of Ed and Lorraine Warren’s case files will be used for The Conjuring 3, but regardless of which of the spooky tales will be brought to life on the big screen, we can’t wait to see it.
