The Chainsmokers are gearing up to make waves at Freeform — but not in the way you might expect.

According to Variety, recording artists The Chainsmokers have officially signed on to serve as executive producers on an upcoming music drama series coming down the pipeline at Freeform.

Titled Demo, the forthcoming series will focus on a 20-something musician as she makes the bold decision to leave her struggling indie rock band and her working class family behind in favor of trying to make it in Los Angeles as a pop song writer.

A career in the music industry may be the driving force in her decision to hit the road and make her way to Los Angeles, but it sounds as though there’s more to it than that.

Per the synopsis for the series, the aspiring songwriter will be “eager to shed her past,” before eventually discovering that “the best songs tell the deepest truths, if only she can find the strength to tell hers.”

It sounds as though The Chainsmokers have quite an uplifting story about learning to speak your truth on their hands so it’ll be interesting to see how the series comes together at Freeform.

The music duo aren’t the only ones attached to Demo. Behind the scenes, Joy Gregory will serve as writer and executive producer. In addition, Stampede Ventures’ Greg Silverman, Paul Shapiro, and Cara Fans will also serve as executive producers.

Meanwhile, The Chainsmokers’ Alex Pall and Drew Taggart along with their namer, Adam Alpert, will produce via their Kick the Habit banner.

There’s currently no word on when we can expect Demo to premiere via Freeform.
