You’ll soon be able to own J.D. Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye in eBook format.

J.D. Salinger’s son, Matt Salinger, has decided to release the classic novel, along with three more of his father’s works, as eBooks, Deadline is reporting. The Catcher in the Rye, Nine Stories, Franny and Zooey, and Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters and Seymour – An Introduction will all be available in digital format starting this week.

Since most classic novels are already available in digital format, it’s great that you’ll now be able to add this widely beloved favorite to your collection. Matt Salinger’s initial reluctance to release his father’s works as eBooks was in part because J.D. Salinger “had an aversion to the internet.”

Perhaps even more excitingly, Salinger’s estate is also making plans to release some full, unreleased works that J.D. Salinger wrote before his death in 2010. While there is no date set for these releases, Matt Salinger assured that they will be made available. “I wanted people to know that, yes, he did keep writing, there’s a lot of material, and yes, it will be published,” he said.
