Now that the cat and mouse game is effectively over, where will we find Alice and Ben in The Catch season 1, episode 5, “The Laragan Gambit?”
Last week, with the help of Agent Jules Dao, Alice finally caught the man who had been playing her for a year. However, things didn’t exactly go according to plan. She had every intention of exacting her revenge on him, but in the end, she couldn’t follow through with it. Ben laid all of his cards on the table, and Alice folded.
The Catch was built on the premise that “the game won’t be over until the cat catches her mouse,” and she caught him! So, that means we’re done now, right? Well, no. Even though the game is over, The Catch is just getting started. The question is, with its original premise out the window, where will it go from here?
The Catch season 1, episode 5, will set the show on its new path. The trailer for the episode provides us a little bit of insight into what will happen, and leaves a lot of room for speculation! Here is what we know will happen, what we think will happen, and what we have no idea about in The Catch season 1, episode 5, “The Laragan Gambit.”
What will happen?
One thing we know for sure is that the players will still play, and the private investigators will still investigate…privately. The procedural aspect of the show will still remain the same, which is comforting to know, since so much is changing!
Ben may have confessed that his heart truly belongs with Alice, but he’s just as much a con artist as he’s always been. Since he got soft and lied to Margot about Princess Zara’s check, Margot’s Angels still has a hefty debt to settle with the benefactor. A jewelry heist at a prestigious event seems like the most obvious way to get some spare cash, so that’s the plan for The Catch season 1, episode 5.
What might happen?
Ben and Alice are besties again, so what’s the problem? Well, there is still a mysterious third party involved that could cause trouble for everyone: Agent Jules Dao. He still believes that Alice is working with him to take down Ben, so she’ll still have to keep up the facade of the chase to keep him happy and to keep herself safe.
Ben alluded to Dao being untrustworthy, but why? Being a con artist probably makes Ben a great judge of character, but he’s not really the most trustworthy person either, so we’re not sure what to believe. Hopefully we’ll find out whatever Dao’s secret agenda is in The Catch season 1, episode 5, and Ben and Alice will team up against him somehow.
What?
So, Alice is really just okay with the fact that Ben’s a con artist? Sure, he loves her, and has spent a lot of money trying to make up for what he did, but what about the countless other people who’ve been fooled by him! The episode trailer makes it look like Alice is even teaming up with Ben in his latest heist, but we still have no idea why, or if that’s what she’s really doing. If she’s ready to fill out an application for Margot’s Angels that quickly, she has some serious explaining to do!
