With fame comes copycats, and J.K. Rowling’s new book The Casual Vacancy is no exception. A parody book has been announced and it looks quite awful.

Author Patty O’Furniture’s (pseudonym of writer Bruno Vincent) book The Vacant Casualty is currently available in e-book format for £3.99, and will be available in hardback on September 13 for £8.99.

According to The Bookseller, “the book is set in the English town of Mumford, where all is quiet, apart from the man with the axe in his back who is staggering down the street, leaving a vacancy on the Parish Council. It features Detective Inspector Bradley, a ‘plodding buffoon, incapable of detecting his own backside,’ who teams up with a writer researching a detective novel, and together they blunder towards the identity of the ‘vacant casualty,’ hoping to get to the truth before everyone in the town is murdered.”

The hardback edition can be pre-ordered here on Amazon U.K. Currently the e-book version only appears to be available on Amazon.es.

While we can’t take the book seriously, we had to pass along the presence of this parody.
