The international release dates for The Book Thief movie have just dropped. Plus – Liesel is caught in the act in the latest clips.

Fans of The Book Thief have been waiting to find out when the highly anticipated film adaptation will hit screens in their country, and now they finally know. The international dates were released on The Book Thief Facebook page.

Unfortunately for international fans (except for lucky Puerto Rico), this means a long wait until early 2014 when the film is released. The Book Thief will be released in the United States on November 15, 2013.

New ‘The Book Thief’ movie clips:

Two new scenes from The Book Thief have also been released. They both focus on Liesel (Sophie Nélisse) being caught in the act as that same ‘book thief’ of the title.

The first scene shows Liesel stealing a book from the Nazi book burning in her town. As a large car drives off, it is implied that someone has seen Liesel – a fear echoed by her foster father Hans Hubermann (Geoffrey Rush) when he finds her.

This scene was featured on the two posters we have seen so far, the first featuring Sophie Nélisse and the second Geoffrey Rush. It also featured prominently in the international trailer that was recently released.

The second clip shows Liesel being caught out, this time by Rudy (Nico Liersch), after “borrowing” a book. And not only that – Rudy, clearly hurt by Liesel’s secrecy, has found out about Max.

Their friendship is one of the key components of Markus Zusak’s original novel, and from what we can see, Liersch captures Rudy’s essence wonderfully.

The Book Thief is the film adaptation of Markus Zusak’s novel by the same name. The Fault in Our Stars author John Green sang the praises of the movie in a recent twitter lovefest between himself and Zusak.
