Penny and Sheldon struggled with matters of the mind as the The Big Bang Theory once again obliterated its rating-rivals.

Thursday night’s episode of The Big Bang Theory was again the most-watched program of the night. “The Extract Obliteration” was watched by 15.65 million viewers, fewer than last week’s episode, but earning a season high in the 18-49 demographic.

In “The Extract Obliteration”, Penny revealed that she was considering going back to school and had recently enrolled in a local college to test the waters. Leonard, though thrilled at the news, immediately realized Penny’s fears and proved himself impressively incapable of letting Penny do her schoolwork. Penny managed to hurdle her academic obstacles on her own (more or less), though tension still lingered between the couple over Leonard’s lack of support.

Meanwhile, Sheldon spent the episode in alternating fits of delight and distress over his budding “Words With Friends” relationship with Stephen Hawking. Raj, Howard and Amy all pitched in with (intermittently exasperated) advice, but wowing the super-scientist proved to be more treacherous than Sheldon anticipated.

The Big Bang Theory is back next week with “The Habitation Configuration”. CBS says:

Wolowitz struggles with moving out of his mother’s house. Meanwhile, Sheldon is caught in the middle of an argument between Amy and Wil Wheaton.

Wheaton’s fellow Star Trek alum LeVar Burton is also set to make an appearance. Episode 6×08, “The 43 Peculiarity” is scheduled to air on Nov. 15, though this has not yet been confirmed.
