The geeky gang will go back in time, in a manner of speaking, when The Big Bang Theory season 8, episode 8 airs tonight on CBS. The episode, titled “The Prom Equivalency,” will focus on unexpected consequences when Amy and Bernadette decide to return to a pivotal high school experience.

“When the gang recreates a high school prom on the roof the of the guys’ apartment building,” CBS says, “Sheldon feels pressure to participate in all the typical romantic traditions.”

On last week’s episode of The Big Bang Theory, the guys wound up stuck in the geek-paraphernalia museum in the basement of a doctor besotted with Penny, while Amy and Bernadette argued about sexualizing female scientists.

It all worked out, don’t worry.

The preview for “The Prom Equivalency” sets up the gang getting ready for said prom… and hints at a few romantic moments on the horizon.
