Howard will face a major-league challenge when The Big Bang Theory season 8, episode 3 airs tonight on CBS. The episode, tellingly titled “The First Pitch Insufficiency,” will focus on Wolowitz as he attempts to learn how to throw a ball before tossing the first pitch at a Los Angeles Angels game.
The official synopsis for The Big Bang Theory season 8, episode 3 adds context to this dilemma, and explains what Leonard and Sheldon will be up to tonight.
“Wolowitz is nervous after NASA asks him to throw out the first pitch at a Los Angeles Angels game,” CBS explains. “Also, Leonard and Penny try to prove Sheldon wrong after he says that he and Amy are a ‘superior couple.’”
In last week’s two-episode season premiere of The Big Bang Theory, Leonard and Amy brought Sheldon home to Pasadena after a his summer of riding the rails came to an undignified end. Once home, Sheldon was forced to teach a class at the University.
The class became a source of tension with Howard, who was fed up with Sheldon thinking he’s a moron. Howard also dealt with the squick-worthy bond that has sprung up between his mother and comic-store-owner-turned-home-healthcare-provider-turned-roommate-maybe-with-benefits, Stuart.
Meanwhile, Bernadette helped Penny get a job selling pharmaceuticals. When the demands of the job caused – you guessed it – more tension between the friends, Amy found herself reaping the attention… but only briefly.
The promo for “The First Pitch Insufficiency” suggests that this week, the tension will all be focused on Howard’s spindly arm.
And Amy looks pretty excited as well, though we assume that has little to do with either Howard or baseball.
Two preview clips from The Big Bang Theory season 8, episode 3 set up Howard’s dilemma, while the stills focus on his attempts to persevere past admittedly overwhelming odds.
