Sheldon and Penny will act on their long-submerged mutual attraction – sort of – when The Big Bang Theory season 8, episode 16 airs tonight.

The episode, titled “The Intimacy Acceleration,” will also include adventures from the rest of the geeky gang.

“As a joke, Sheldon and Penny try an experiment designed to make participants fall in love,” CBS says. “Also, Leonard, Amy, Raj and Emily spend the evening trying to escape a room with a “zombie.” And, after returning from Mrs. Wolowitz’ funeral, Bernadette and Howard run into trouble at the airport.”

Mrs. Wolowitz passed away in last week’s episode of The Big Bang Theory, ending a lighter episode on a somber note. Stuart’s comic book store re-opened, Penny discovered that Amy had been using her intelligence in an experiment, and Leonard and Raj met Nathan Fillion – probably.

Sneak peeks from “The Intimacy Acceleration” focus on Sheldon and Penny’s long-awaited path to deep romantic love. First, the two seem suspicious of the idea that they could achieve intimacy in just a few hours; we can’t imagine why.

And in the next clip, Penny and Sheldon give it the old college try.

What would a Penny/Sheldon ship even be called? Shenny? Peldon? Wildly unlikely possibilities abound.

The still photos from The Big Bang Theory season 8, episode 16 also offer glimpses of Leonard, Raj, Amy, and Emily’s zombie-esque adventure, as well as Howard and Bernadette attempting to survive the airport apocalypse.
