Leonard and Sheldon got trolled by the pros on The Big Bang Theory season 8, episode 14. Read our recap and share your thoughts on “The Troll Manifestation.”

Eureka

At dinner, Penny asks Leonard about his work. He is surprised, but has a breakthrough about superfluids while explaining the concept to Penny.

Surface tension. It’s gonna be a thing.

Leonard nervously pitches Sheldon on his theory; remarkably, Sheldon concedes that Leonard is on to something and gives him a sticker.

Leonard finds Sheldon awake in the middle of the night. Sheldon has baked up the concept and written an entire paper based on “their” idea. Leonard is impressed, and they decide to post the paper online.

Congeniality

At “Girls’ Night,” Amy and Bernadette pressure Penny into watching her latest smash hit, Serial Apist II. The movie is as dreadful as they had feared/hoped, and Penny interrupts the screening to show a video she has found of Bernadette.

Performing in a Quizznos beauty pageant.

While wearing a pink cupcake dress that probably outweighs her by several pounds.

Amy and Penny are delighted.

Don’t read the comments

Howard and Raj interrupt Leonard and Sheldon at the University to let them know that their paper has been mentioned on an important blog. Leonard makes a massive, overwhelming, horrific mistake and begins to read the comments.

It isn’t long before Leonard comes across a critical remark; the culprit soon comments again, insulting Leonard and Sheldon personally. Sheldon makes a massive, overwhelming, horrific mistake and begins to write back.

Love in the time of cholera

Unable to take the heat, Bernadette outs Amy’s own dark little secret. It seems Dr. Fowler has a tendency to write Little House on the Prairie-inspired fan fiction.

Starring herself Amelia and Sheldon a time-traveling physicist.

A quick search unearths the fic, and Penny begins to read.

(T)roller

Back at the apartment, Leonard and Sheldon wait nervously for the anonymous commenter to respond. When he finally does, Sheldon issues the troll a challenge to settle their scientific mud slinging in person — and immediately gets a Skype message from the commenter.

(How they know it’s him if the comment was anonymous, we have no idea, but Science! So let’s move on.)

Sheldon slams down his computer, immediately regretting this contact. But soon, pumped up by Raj’s encouragement about the success of writing the paper, Sheldon calls the commenter back.

And omigosh it’s Stephen Hawking.

But it’s not so bad. Hawking isn’t hating on their paper — in fact, he thinks their “premise is intriguing.” Still, he’s bored, and roller’s gonna troll.

Coop me up

Penny reads Amy’s fic, which captures Sheldon’s ridiculous personality like light in a crystal. Amy is humiliated, and pulls the story away. But Penny and Bernadette insist they really like the story, so Amy finishes reading its emotional end.

And then the girls scare Leonard away.

Later, Penny reads Leonard the story, but he cops out after a vivid scene of “Amelia” bathing Cooper.
