The first official preview for the premiere episode of The Big Bang Theory season 7 has arrived, giving us more than one reason to stay out of the water.

The Big Bang Theory will return to our small screens on Sept. 26 with the first two episodes of season 7. A, shall we say, artistic teaser has been released for the first of those two episodes, titled “The Hofstadter Insufficiency.”

It’s hard to take too much away from this brief – but thoroughly entertaining – promo beyond perhaps the strong indication that bad things happen in the water. From Penny’s Psycho-esque scream to Leonard’s highly personal encounter with a tentacled creature from the depths, we might be reconsidering the wisdom of exploring anything deeper than a Poland Spring bottle.

The official summary for “The Hofstadter Insufficiency” is mum on the subject of hydrophobia, however.

With Leonard away, Sheldon and Penny spend quality time together sharing intimate secrets. Also, Wolowitz helps Raj get over his ex-girlfriend.

The second episode of The Big Bang Theory season 7, “The Deception Verification,” heralds Leonard’s return from those dangerous waters, but it seems the reunion will not be placid.

Leonard’s friendship with Sheldon is put to the test when he returns from the North Sea. Meanwhile, Wolowitz’s relationship with his mother causes an unusual threat to his masculinity.

Rough sailing for more than one member of the geeky gang, it seems!
