Bob Newhart and Bill Nye clash on The Big Bang Theory season 7, episode 7, which airs tonight on CBS. Check out a preview and everything else you need to know before tonight’s episode!

Tonight, The Big Bang Theory season 7, episode 7 will feature the droll return of television great Bob Newhart to the geeky comedy – and he won’t be the only star stopping by in Pasadena.

In the episode, titled “The Proton Displacement,” Sheldon Cooper will once again meet up with his childhood idol Arthur Jeffries (Newhart) who is better known by the name of his television persona Professor Proton. Though Sheldon appointed Proton to be his surrogate father the last time they met, it looks like tension will soon creep between the eccentric scientist and the… slightly less eccentric scientist.

The official summary for The Big Bang Theory season 7, episode 7 says:

Sheldon feels slighted when Professor Proton seeks advice from Leonard instead of him, and he seeks revenge by befriending a rival science TV host, Bill Nye. Meanwhile, Raj gets jealous when Howard crashes “girls’ night.”

The preview for “The Proton Displacement” focuses on the eventual conflict between Sheldon and Professor Proton, with poor Leonard caught in the middle. The promo also introduces the episode’s second guest star – real life TV scientist Bill Nye (of Bill Nye the Science Guy) who will play himself as a long-time rival of Professor Proton.

A sneak peek from The Big Bang Theory season 7, episode 7 shows us how the coming conflict begins, and still photos from the episode give us a hint at how it may come to a head.

We can’t wait to see those two scientific titans clash… but hopefully not too hard. They’d probably break something.

The Big Bang Theory season 7, episode 7, “The Proton Displacement,” airs tonight at 8:00 p.m. on CBS.
