The Big Bang Theory season 7, episode 6 hit all the high notes tonight with “The Romance Resonance.” Check out our recap and share your thoughts!

In The Big Bang Theory season 7, episode 6, Sheldon is busy working on a formula. Howard asks the gang to help him play a romantic song for Bernadette in celebration of their first date. Later, Penny realizes that she hasn’t made many romantic gestures for Leonard over the course of their relationship, and vows to change that.

At the apartment, Sheldon finishes a complicated equation to synthesize a “new stable, super-heavy element” and dances around the room in celebration. His claims to scientific greatness are validated when a team in China is able to replicate the element.

But later, while Amy and Sheldon are cataloging the markers and books he used to complete his discovery, Sheldon realizes that his calculations were off by a factor of 10,000. Dr. Cooper’s discovery was nothing more than a mistake.

Sheldon is devastated by the error and is humiliated by his new fame. He tells the cafeteria about the mistake and asks for no more praise – but the admiration doesn’t stop.

At the restaurant, the gang sets up their instruments for Bernadette. Amy confesses that she’s embarrassed for Sheldon, which overwhelms him with joy. Unfortunately, Bernadette is in quarantine after a lab accident, but the gang brings the song to her. Replete with geek references and scientific jargon, it’s incredibly adorable, and probably the sweetest moment on the show in years.

Later, at Penny’s apartment, Penny gives Leonard a first edition of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy… unfortunately, she forgot that he already had a copy. But Leonard is touched that she saved the mementos from his romantic gestures, so it’s okay.

In the tag, Sheldon tells Amy that he distracts her and wants to kiss her on the mouth… but Amy is just daydreaming, stuck in her own “zone.”
