Sometimes you need to lean on your closest friends for support during the scarier times in life. But what happens when they need a break? See what happens when Bernadette, Amy, and Leonard need a break from Sheldon and Penny in our full The Big Bang Theory recap!

What do you want to do?

Sheldon and Penny are in two different funks with their careers. Penny’s director seems to be more interested in her physical assets rather than her acting abilities. Sheldon makes a list of possible careers including studying cosmology and dark matter, among other sciences.

Leonard proposes the group bring back “Anything Can Happen Thursdays,” but beyond cutting a calzone in half and eating it like pizza, they are at a loss for exciting ideas. Sheldon tries to throw in a meet up with Lord of the Rings live action role-players, but that also fails to grab anyone’s attention.

Break Time

On their walk to find adventure, Penny, Leonard, and Sheldon spot Bernadette and Amy toasting to their night away from the complainers. Between Penny’s movie and Sheldon’s career change, their ears are in need of new topics of conversation. Leonard’s silence throws him right under the bus with the ladies who drink.

Raj and Howard try to have a trial run viewing of House of 1000 Corpses before Raj needs to watch it with Emily. Howard tries to power through for Raj’s sake, but Penny interrupts the gathering by ratting out Bernadette’s secret escape.

Leonard and the girls talk about honesty in their relationships while Penny and Sheldon try out an Asian-fusion restaurant. Seeking an alternate to bemoaning their future careers, Penny tries out the fortunes within the cookies. Only seeing the benefits Oreos and Nutter Butters offer, Penny drags Sheldon to a psychic.

The ‘M’ Word

Before Bernadette exits to make up for her lie to Howard, she admits that their problems are typically solved when she slips into a Catholic school uniform. Amy tells Leonard that she is jealous of Penny and Sheldon’s friendship. Sheldon is a tough person to achieve a break through, but Penny did come from a home surrounded by horses, so she has experience approaching people without making them skittish.

At the psychic, Sheldon’s “spirit guides” say that his future success, in both his personal life and professional life, depend on one relationship. Once he gives himself over to his relationship with Amy, everything will fall into place. Using a word that he only reserves for the most absurd instances in life, Sheldon calls the entire session malarky and leaves.

Raj has Emily over the following night for their viewing of the gore fest. He admits to her that he wonders what it says about someone who takes pleasure in such a disturbing genre. Emily says that she wonders the same, but she cannot explain why the gore gets her in the mood.

Amy shows up at Sheldon’s apartment the following night with a new approach to apologizing. Under her jacket Amy reveals a Catholic school girl uniform, but, as usual, Sheldon’s gaze does not take in any innuendos and proceeds to ask if she brought over Gravity on Blu-ray.
