A long-standing relationship may come to an end tonight when The Big Bang Theory season 7, episode 20 airs on CBS. The episode, titled “The Relationship Diremption,” will focus on Sheldon’s struggles with his first love – physics.
The official synopsis for “The Relationship Diremption” also hints that at least one more relationship might be in for a bumpy ride tonight.
Sheldon faces a personal crisis after deciding he’s wasting his time with string theory. Meanwhile, a double date between Raj, Emily and the Wolowitzes ends in embarrassment for Howard.
On last week’s episode of The Big Bang Theory, Penny, Raj, and Sheldon all grappled with difficult decisions. Penny chose the difficult road of appearing in Serial Apist 2, while Raj was surprised by the positive response when he confessed to his potential love-interest Emily that he was also seeing his old girlfriend Lucy. But alas, Sheldon could not chose a path between gaming consoles, and left the electronics store bereft.
The preview for The Big Bang Theory season 7, episode 20 indicates that Sheldon may be making some more significant decisions this week – at the very least, with his hair.

A new sneak peek from “The Relationship Diremption” probably shows the precipitation of Sheldon’s evolution in a conversation with Penny.
In the clip, Sheldon is depressed because his life’s work of proving string theory now seems futile. Penny tries to comfort him, and rapidly learns the meaning of the phrase, “No good deed goes unpunished.”
