Here’s what happened in The Big Bang Theory season 7, episode 16!

Off the table

As the gang eats dinner, the guys make fun of Raj for pronouncing “mustache” “moo-stache.” Bernadette suggests getting a dining room table, but Sheldon invokes Chaos Theory because he doesn’t want a table.

But Leonard decides to go buy a table. Sheldon immediately starts to use the never-used desk in the space where the new table is going to be, and insists that the table will ruin his and Leonard’s relationship.

Leonard and Penny shop for a table, but Leonard can’t get Sheldon’s objections out of his head. He picks a table… and then another table, because Penny doesn’t like the first one.

Breaking up is hard to do

The table arrives, but Sheldon hates it. He wants to get rid of it, per the Roommate Agreement. Penny is annoyed that Leonard is letting Sheldon boss him around, but Sheldon accuses Penny of corrupting Leonard. Penny shoots back that Amy has changed Sheldon. She thinks it’s for the better, but Sheldon is appalled that he is now an “affectionate, open-minded person” because of Amy. (Yeah, totally.) He leaves to break up with her.

Amy is not surprised by the decision. She calmly decides to sign, because this isn’t about her. Amy convinces Sheldon that Leonard is manipulating him to break up with her, so that Amy wouldn’t support Sheldon on the table thing. With the breakup off, Sheldon and Amy return to the apartment.

Leonard prevails by invoking the successful purchase of their couch, and Amy fails at getting Sheldon to move in with her.

Down to Earth

Howard shows off his magic wand TV remote to Raj, during which he gets a call from NASA offering him another chance to visit the International Space Station. He tells them he’d be honored. But when Howard tells Bernadette, she is surprised he wants to go back. Howard insists he loved his terrifying experience in space.

Bernadette admits to Raj that she doesn’t want Howard to go back to space, where he was miserable. She brings in the big guns – her dad, and astronaut Mike Massimino, via Skype – to convince him not to go back. Howard doesn’t remember his fear, or being picked on by the other astronauts, but he insists that he is stronger now.

However, by the time Howard is examined for space fitness, he is terrified. Though he is healthy, Howard raises his blood pressure with a conversation with his mother and is deemed unfit for space travel.

Not a leg to stand on

Sheldon and Amy eat on the couch while the rest of the gang consoles Howard over his ineligibility at the table. Bernadette feels bad about them eating alone and convinces everyone – even Raj – to join them on the couch. (Or the floor, in Raj’s case.) Howard makes another quip about Raj’s accent and everything goes back to normal.
