The geeky gang will get into the holiday spirit tonight without Sheldon when The Big Bang Theory season 7, episode 11 airs on CBS. The episode, titled “The Cooper Extraction” will channel the Christmas classic It’s A Wonderful Life as Sheldon’s friends ponder what their lives would have been like without him.

The official summary for The Big Bang Theory season 7, episode 11 sets the scene for this exercise in theoretical speculation.

While Sheldon is away in Texas, everyone gathers to decorate the apartment Christmas tree, and they each realize how much he has changed their lives.

Last week on The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon and Leonard had to cope with the fallout of Leonard disproving Sheldon’s accidental ground-breaking scientific discovery. The experience was tough for both scientists, and we wonder if the hatchet will have been buried before Leonard starts to consider his life without Sheldon tonight.

Still, the preview for “The Cooper Extraction” seems to show most of the gang in high spirits.

And though Leonard may find that his Sheldon-free alternate life is far less satisfying than he expected, it’s clear from a new clip from The Big Bang Theory season 7, episode 11 that a care-free Christmas tree decoration suits him well. (As does a certain re-gifting from Penny.)

A few new still photos from “The Cooper Extraction” also help set the scene for the alternate realities explored tonight.

These ‘ships are all over the place! It definitely looks like life without Sheldon is a less-than-wonderful life. Dr. Cooper to Pasadena, stat!
