The Big Bang Theory concluded its wild sixth season tonight with episode 24, “The Bon Voyage Reaction.” The episode brought a terrific scientific opportunity for Leonard, earning him the chance to work with The Big Bang Theory‘s favorite physicist Stephen Hawking. Unfortunately, the job would take Leonard off to the North Sea for four long months – a difficult prospect when his relationship with Penny has been going so smoothly. Between Penny and a grinningly jealous Sheldon, Leonard had a tough decision to make.

Raj also tries desperately to hold on to his budding relationship with Lucy, whose social anxiety made her reluctant to join Raj with his friends. A take-it-slow meeting with Amy went awry, and the situation got worse when Lucy agreed to attend Leonard’s party. Unfortunately, Lucy’s panic led her to pull away from Raj… but on the up side, Raj’s sadness did manage to break down the long-standing dam of words between him and the women of the world. (Which is a good thing. Probably.)

“The Bon Voyage Reaction” brought The Big Bang Theory season 6 to a touching and hilarious conclusion. The season proved unexpectedly record-breaking for the CBS comedy, as the show became the top-rated comedy on television, regularly winning the Thursday night ratings game. The Big Bang Theory also surpassed its own ratings highs multiple times in season 6; episode 13, “The Bakersfield Expedition” smashed all previous bests by pulling in 20 million viewers.

“It’s hard to wrap your brain around it,” Kunal Nayar (Raj) told TV Guide. “It feels to us on set that things haven’t changed. We’re the same people and we still work as hard to make the show as good, if not better, over the years.”

The Big Bang Theory will be back for season 7 in the fall of this year. Share your predictions in the comments below!
