To infinity and beyond! Last night’s sixth season premier of The Big Bang Theory debuted to top ratings for CBS, and the network released descriptions of two upcoming episodes.

The Big Bang Theory opened its sixth season last night with its highest-rated premier to date, The Futon Critic reports. “The Date Night Variable” pulled in 15.30 million viewers, the top-rated and most-watched broadcast of the night.

“The Date Night Variable” saw Wolowitz alienate both his mother and his wife Bernadette from his distant perch on the International Space Station. (A hilarious cameo by real-life astronaut Pasha Lychnikoff added to the zero-gravity zingers.) Meanwhile, Raj found himself alienated by couples Leonard and Penny and Sheldon and Amy, after getting a little too close to the pairs’ special evenings. The couples themselves struggled with communication; Spiderman came to the rescue for Sheldon and Amy, but Leonard and Penny have still not managed to talk out their tumultuous feelings.

CBS also shared descriptions for the next two installments in season 6. The second episode will air Oct. 4 and is titled “The Decoupling Fluctuation”:

When Sheldon learns that Penny is thinking about breaking up with Leonard, he tries to intervene. Meanwhile, in space, the other astronauts pick on Howard.

And the third episode, “The Higgs Boson Observation”, airs on Oct. 11:

Amy feels threatened when Sheldon hires a young female assistant, and the pressure of being in space takes its toll on Wolowitz.

The Big Bang Theory airs on Thursdays at 8 pm on CBS.
