The Big Bang Theory cast and crew stopped by SDCC to talk about the biggest moments from season 10 and more.

Season 10 of The Big Bang Theory featured some huge turning points for Leonard, Penny, Sheldon and the whole gang. Leonard and Penny celebrated their marriage with their friends, Howard and Bernadette had a baby, and Sheldon and Amy experienced living together for the first time, which lead to that adorable proposal!

In their first large scale SDCC appearance since 2012, many of the show’s stars and creators took the Hall H stage to talk about the series, and some of these huge moments. In attendance were stars, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Kunal Nayyar and Kevin Sussman, along with writers, Dave Goetsch, Eric Kaplan, Maria Ferrari and Bill Prady, and producers, Steve Holland and Steve Molaro. The panel was moderated by recurring guest stars Riki Lindhome and John Ross Bowie.

The Big Bang Theory season 10 ended on a cliffhanger, with Sheldon throwing caution to the wind (as much as he can, anyway. He still knocked three times), flying across the country, and popping the question to his girlfriend. Naturally, that was still at the forefront of everyone’s minds as the cast and creatives took the stage at their SDCC panel.

They were not willing to reveal what Amy’s answer will be, and unfortunately, Mayim Bialik and Jim Parsons weren’t there to share their experience, but it was clear that everyone was affected by the huge moment. Lindhome was the first to bring it up, asking, “what was the mood like, on set?”

Cuoco jumped on the question, saying, “I take polaroids on set, so we must have hundreds of polaroids at this point that are all on the wall of shame, in the wardrobe room. So obviously, I went up to get my camera for this moment. I knew we were gonna do it and I had to get a photograph on my Polaroid, and basically everyone and everyone’s mother was behind the camera for this one scene, even though we all knew it was gonna happen. And I started crying.”

At this point, Nayyar interrupted by saying, “we were all crying.” Sussman then added, “I came as close to crying as I’m capable of.” Cuoco then went on, saying, “it was really cool. You see so many years and so many relationships transformed, and to see that be this pinnacle of the season was just really cool. We’ve all just come a long way and we were all kinda crying.”

At least we know the cast reacted in the exact same way as the fans! We’re sure there’ll be just as many tears when Amy eventually answers the question, for better or for worse.

When the floor was opened up for fan questions, someone tried to sneakily find out Penny’s mysterious maiden name. Before she married Leonard and became Penny Hofstadter, her last name was unknown for years.

A fan asked Cuoco if she had any ideas as to what the name is, to which she replied, “I have it in my head what I think that it is, but now I’m Penny Hofstadter so it doesn’t matter!” Keep trying, fans. One day we’ll get it out of her.

Johnny Galecki ended the panel by saying a sincere thank you to the SDCC fans that have supported The Big Bang Theory since day one. Reminiscing on their very first SDCC experience, he said, “we got here and we couldn’t believe that the seats were filled. They had to turn down a few hundred people. Your support and love has been staggering. Thank you.”

The Big Bang Theory season 11 will premiere on Monday, September 25 at 8/7c, before returning to its regular Thursday time-slot on November 2.
