Sheldon is forced into contrition when the geeky gang has enough of his self-centered antics on The Big Bang Theory 9×13.

The episode, titled “The Empathy Optimization,” will finally put the onus on Sheldon, after his tiny social circle gets fed up. But it seems like Dr. Cooper’s plan may be flawed from the start.

“After having to deal with a sick Sheldon,” CBS says, “Leonard, Penny and the gang try to treat themselves to a Sheldon-free weekend.”

Good luck with that, guys.

Getting healthy was also a central subject last week’s episode of The Big Bang Theory. When Leonard tried to trick a therapist into seeing Penny for drug pitches, he wound up marveling at benefits of talk therapy. Even Penny found her pitches failing, instead venting her frustrations and fears to the doctor. Meanwhile, Howard and Bernadette found themselves missing Stuart, while Sheldon and Raj argued about what to name the comet they discovered together.

The two sneak peeks from “The Empathy Optimization” see dreams come true (and then dashed, because apparently the guys can’t appreciate Shakespeare) and explains why Amy is still attending her mysteriously extended conference.

The stills from tonight’s episode show Sheldon’s further attempts to empathize his way back into the hearts and minds (and rooms and stores) of his friends. Prognosis: Poor.

The Big Bang Theory 9×13, “The Empathy Optimization,” airs tonight at 8:00 p.m. on CBS.
