The Batman has cast Peter Sarsgaard in an as-of-yet undisclosed mystery role. Could it be that the movie has found its new Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face?

And The Batman casting train continues.

A favorite indie actor joining the upcoming superhero solo flick is Peter Sarsgaard; the critically acclaimed actor with an eclectic mix of roles that run anywhere from Boys Don’t Cry, Garden State, Shattered Glass and, of course, who could forget his stint in Green Lantern.

Kidding, of course, as I’m sure he’d more than likely would like to have us all forget he was ever in that flop of a comic book film. But it looks like his experience in that comic book movie hasn’t deterred him in taking on a role in another one, as director Matt Reeves tweeted out today that Peter Sarsgaard has been cast in his upcoming Batman film.

However, unlike previous tweets from the director, this low-quality gif announcement didn’t come attached with the role that Sarsgaard would be playing in The Batman.

The most popular speculation from fandom and the media at large seems to be that Sarsgaard has been cast as Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face, and is the last major villain we know for sure will be part of the film but has yet to be announced. THR also reports that Sarsgaard could be playing a corrupt cop named Wasserman.

Nothing confirmed as of yet, but whatever role he’ll be playing, we’re sure in for a treat.

Sarsgaard joins an already stacked The Batman cast, which includes Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as playing Riddler, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, John Turturro as crime boss Carmine Falcone, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, and Andy Serkis as his trusted butler and all-around badass, Alfred.

The Batman comes out June 25, 2021.
