With The Avengers grabbing an Oscar nomination for Best Visual Effects, we have another video from the studio showing what all went into the creation of The Hulk with actor Mark Ruffalo.

Industrial Light & Magic, the visual effects company which is responsible for the effects in the massive 2012 hit The Avengers, has released another video featuring their work. This time they focus on the motion capture done with Mark Ruffalo to portray The Hulk and why it was imperative to create a believable Hulk.

“We knew, right from the beginning we could nail New York City, the aliens, and the different Avengers. But at the end of the day this film was going to be judged on The Hulk.” – Jeff White, ILM VFX Supervisor.

ILM is a subsidiary of Lucasfilm, which was recently purchased by Disney for $4.05 billion. They got their start by working on the first Star Wars film and have gone on to become one of the most highly regarded VFX companies in the industry. Check out some of the work they did on The Avengers:

Be sure to check out another video released by ILM recently, which featured their work on the New York battle sequences in The Avengers.

Best Visual Affects was the only nomination that The Avengers received for this year’s Academy Awards and it will be going up against The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Life of Pi, Prometheus, and Snow White and the Hunstman.
