The Avengers has become the third movie ever to earn over $600 million at the domestic box office, doing so in just 54 days.

James Cameron’s Avatar is the only other film to do so in less time, taking just 47 days to break the $600 million mark, finally resting at a cool $749.7 million.

The Avengers began its incredible run at box office history with a phenomenally earth-shattering $207.4 million during its opening weekend. This broke the record for biggest opening weekend ever, beating out Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 which came in at $169.1 million. The Avengers ended up breaking 28 records in total, which included biggest 10-day gross at $373.1 million, and fastest film to $500 million, which took just 23 days.

It’s not finished either, as it’s projected to make another $30 million, but should cool off very soon with The Amazing Spider-Man coming out next week and The Dark Knight Rises hitting theaters July 20.

As we all know it was you, the fans, who helped make all this happen, so how many times did you see The Avengers in theaters?
