Capping off the Marvel panel at San Diego Comic-Con today, Avengers director Joss Whedon had a surprise for fans: The Avengers sequel’s official title.

Whedon took the stage at the very end of Marvel’s Comic-Con panel and said: “I have nothing to say, I just have one thing to add. Roll it.” At that point the audience was treated to the first teaser trailer for The Avengers 2 which ended with the official title being revealed asThe Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The teaser included a close up of a helmet’s reflection which you could see all of the Avengers in. This was a shot of Ultron, the film’s antagonist, and then it quickly flashed to the title card which you can see above. There was no actual footage from the film.

Marvel’s Comic-Con panel included many surprises, including a full blown trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as footage from Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, and The Avengers: Age of Ultron footage.

The Avengers sequel title gives us a bit of information to chew on until its 2015 release date, but not much. It basically tells us that the Avengers will be teaming up to take on Ultron, who is a criminally insane rogue sentient robot dedicated to conquest and the extermination of humanity.

We imagine we’ll be hearing much more about Ultron’s involvement in the film and seeing some additional footage as soon as Whedon starts filming. The Avengers: Age of Ultron release date is set for May 1, 2015. Robert Downey Jr. recently signed on to play Iron Man again in The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
