After not airing a new episode this week, The Americans will return next Wednesday with new dangers for Philip (Matthew Rhys) and Elizabeth (Keri Russell) as well as their FBI counterparts as seen in the synopsis, stills, and clip.

In “Safe House” the Jennings will face yet another mess-up in a mission that was supposed to go on as normal. In a previous episode “COMINT” Elizabeth barely escaped from the trunk of a FBI agent’s car while also on a routine machine. It seems like the Jennings are under a lot of stress, with little to no support from KGB officials as evident in the synopsis. “Philip and Elizabeth are put to the test when a routine mission goes horribly wrong. Stan and the FBI are pushed to their limit when one of their own goes missing.”

It is unclear whether their relationship will survive. In last week’s episode “Mutually Assured Destruction” the assassin killed two FBI agents and a scientist before the KGB spies could stop him, straining the resources of the FBI and bringing tension to a boiling point. It looks like emotions will continue to be on high alert in “Safe House.” Is that Gregory (Derek Luke) we spy in the new stills?
