The Amazing Race season 26, episode 4 aired tonight. Read our recap to find out who won and who has been eliminated from the race.
This leg begins with all the teams in Phuket, Thailand. The recently engaged Matt and Ashley spent date night on the beach during the Pit Stop, drinking champagne and watching a show.
Mike and Rochelle are the first to leave the next morning, and we find out that they must fly to Bangkok, China. The other teams follow closely behind. Mike and Rochelle, Hayley and Blair, Bergen and Kurt, Jelani and Jenny, Laura and Tyler, Ali and Steve, Matt and Ashley, and Jeff and Jackie are on the 6 a.m. flight.
Harley and Jonathan depart Phuket at 7:01 a.m., nearly an hour behind everyone else.
They go to a Buddhist temple, called Wat Yannawa to receive their clue for the detour of this leg of The Amazing Race.
Detour
The teams must choose between Wheel and Water.
Water: Use a tuk-tuk or a longtail (water taxi) to make two stops. Navigating Bangkok’s congested roadways can be difficult, but there are only 5 water taxis, so the waterways might take longer to get to and from their locations. Decisions, decisions.
Matt and Ashley choose the water taxi, as well as Mike and Rochelle, Bergen & Kurt, Laura and Tyler, and Aly & Steve.
Jeff and Jackie and Hayley and Blair choose the tuk-tuks because there are only five boats at the water taxis and they don’t want to wait for one to return before taking off.
Jelani and Jenny are a little behind as they haven’t even gotten their Detour clue yet, but they soon make up their time and join the rest of the pack.
The first stop for the water taxis is to eat a thousand-year-old egg at a market. Laura and Tyler are the first to give it a shot, and it’s definitely rough. It’s not an easy task, but do-able.
After eating the thousand year old egg, they are given a clue on golden paper instructing them to get help with a Thai ritual. They must go and take part in a traditional Thai prayer. After completing the ritual, they are given their Route Info.
The tuk-tuk teams must sink a red ball in a pocket at a nearby pool hall. Both tuk-tuk teams make it to the pool hall at the same time, and start shooting. When they successfully sink a ball, they are given a small milk bottle.
They must take their milk to feed local cats at a nearby kitty cafe. Hayley and Blair complete the task first, but Jeff and Jackie are right on their heels.
Jonathan and Harley are still in last as they arrive for their first clue to find the Speed Bump. They must assemble a grasshopper completely out of river reeds. Once they complete their task, they can move on to the detour.
Road Block
The next clue is at the Patumwan Siang Gong, and they must arrive there by taxi.
The couples must remove the transmission from a faulty engine block, and find a screwdriver left inside by a rookie mechanic that left it behind. The clue to the pit stop is in the handle of the screwdriver.
Tyler completes the road block and they are the first to read their clue to the pit stop location, which just says, “metal castle.”
Bergen, Steve, Blair, Matt, Jeff, Jelani, Rochelle, and Jonathan all choose to complete the Road Block.
Pit Stop
Tyler and Laura learn that the “metal castle” is a temple called the Loha Prasat. Laura and Tyler received the date slip for this week’s pit stop in their clue.
The winners of this leg of The Amazing Race are: Kurt and Bergen! They have won a trip for two to Puerto Vallarta in Mexico.
