The Amazing Race season 26, episode 11, “In It To Win It,” just finished airing! Read our recap to find out which team got eliminated.
The teams have to head from the mountains to the seaside in Peru, with Hayley and Blair leaving first. Using a magnify glass, they are able to locate their first clue on a mosaic wall. Just as they’re leaving, Jenny and Jelani arrive.
Mike and Rochelle get into a taxi and worry when it starts to break down. The driver has to pull over when it stars smoking. Laura and Tyler drive by and see the disaster, they feel bad but know that they can’t stop.
Once Laura and Tyler get to the wall they start arguing about what to look for, but feel better once they have the clue in hand. Mike and Rochelle make it to the city then have a hard time finding the wall.
Detour
In “Make Some Bricks,” the teams must make 12 bricks using traditional techniques then deliver them to a designated worksite. In “Shake Your Hips,” the teams must dress in traditional Peruvian clothing then learn and perform the steps of the Marinera.
Hayley and Blair choose to make bricks but it’s definitely not as easy as the experts make it look. After doing it wrong, they watch the example again and start to get it right. Then they have to take two trips to deliver the finished bricks before getting the next clue.
Jenny and Jelani decide to try learning the Marinera, thinking that it doesn’t look that bad. But they have trouble getting into the romantic feel of the dance that the judges are looking for. After one try they’re told to smile more and keep their chests out. Finally, after several tries they are given the clue.
Laura and Tyler get to the bricks and start to freak out when Mike and Rochelle arrive. But when Mike and Rochelle see how hard the bricks are they switch to the Marinera detour, and almost immediately regret it once they get there.
After having a few bricks destroyed, Laura and Tyler finish and start delivering their bricks in one trip. As they’re delivering the bricks, Laura accidentally breaks one and they have to go back for a replacement before getting their clue.
After many, many tries at the dance and almost giving up, Mike and Rochelle finally get their clue.
Road Block
At the Road Block the teams must paddle a “Caballito”, a boat made of reeds, out to a buoy and retrieve the next clue.
Blair is excited for the Road Block because he paddle boards back at home, but soon realizes it’s completely different. But once he gets a handle on it, Blair is able to get out to the buoy and grab the clue.
As Blair and Hayley are leaving, Jenny and Jelani are arriving. As Jelani tries to make his way out to the buoy, waves keep taking him out. He then figured out that if he laid back the boat wouldn’t flip over and got to the clue.
When Laura and Tyler arrive at the Road Block they learn that Laura has to do it to even out their turns. Tyler tries to give her a pep talk but Laura still flips her boat once before getting past the waves and grabbing the clue.
Mike and Rochelle get to the Road Block, and it seems like they’re ready to give up. But after a little break she works up the energy and finishes.
Pit Stop
The teams must make their way to the Virgen Del Socorro for the Pit Stop. Hayley and Blair win first place as well as trip to India.
Second place: Jenny and Jelani
Third place: Laura and Tyler
Mike and Rochelle arrive in last place but find out that they have not been eliminated and the final leg starts immediately.
