Here are the highlights from The Amazing Race season 24, episode 12, “Do You Believe in Magic?”:

Having won the last leg of the race, Dave and Connor get to start the twelfth leg of the race first and fly to Las Vegas. Caroline and Jennifer left second and Brenchel third. At the airport in Las Vegas, the three teams jump in cars with mysterious drivers without knowing where they are going.

They’re brought out to the middle of the dessert where the drivers tell them to get out and dig. After digging for quite some time (and arguing about flying dirt) they find wood chests buried in the sand. They discover the chests that have “Property of David Copperfield” stamped on the top. Dave and Connor head out first, followed by Brenchel, and the Country singers.

On the ride back to the city, the teams try to find ways to pry open the chests. Inside they discover that the contents includes a key ring full of keys. The cars bring them to the MGM Grand where David Copperfield preforms. Once there they find a Road Block where they must preform an escape using the keys from the chest.

Connor decides to do the Road Block and is shocked to meet David Copperfield. He’s then blindfolded and brought off to preform the trick. The Country singers arrive next and Jen volunteers followed shortly after by Brenchel, and Rachel volunteers. The other team members are blindfolded and brought to the trick where they have to hand over the keys.

After trying for some time, Connor gets his first lock undone and then gets the pick from the jar. As he tries to pick the lock, the box is set on fire and lifted in the air. Once he has it undone he yells for Dave to flip the switch. As he does, Dave watches his son disappear before his eyes! He turns around to see Connor behind him dressed in a fireman’s suit. Rachel finishes next, followed by Jen.

The next clue sends the teams to the Neon Boneyard. Dave and Connor arrive first and begin looking for the next clue. They find the clue box and figure out they must take a light bulb from one of the signs and bring it with them to The Mirage Hotel and Casino.

Brenchel arrives as Dave and Connor are leaving. They quickly find the clue but take longer to find the sign. As they leave, the Country Singers arrive. Brenchel try to play dirty and bribe the girls’ taxi cab to leave. But he wouldn’t accept their money and waited (you go cabbi!).

At the Mirage the teams must use a window washing basket to replace the light bulbs in the Mirage sign. The Country singers arrive first, followed by Dave and Connor, who are just a few minutes behind them. Meanwhile, Brenchel arrives and heads off in the wrong direction (not following the clue directions again). They head into the hotel and start running around aimlessly. They finally found the clue, realized they were in last place, and started arguing about whose fault it was.

Dave and Connor finish first after trying twice to name the amount of light bulbs they screwed in. The Country singers finished almost right after with only one try to get the number. After the other teams leave, Brenchel finally finishes and gets the number right too.

The next clue sends them to find a helicopter building. The Road Block has the teams skydiving in a high tech light suit to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway where they have to read the finish line sign to jump off. Dave jumps onto the helicopter with Caroline just behind him on another. Brenchel arrives later and Brendon gets on a helicopter.

At the speedway, Connor and Jennifer await along with Phil and the other teams that were eliminated before them. They see a helicopter overhead, but don’t yet know who is in it.

Dave lands first and he races off with Connor to the finish line, where they win the race. Phil happily tells them they have won the $1 million grand prize along with Dave being the oldest winner of The Amazing Race and the first parent/child team to win.

Caroline lands a few minutes later and race to hug their friends Dave and Connor. Brendon lands last and much less enthusiastically finishes the race with Rachel.

Are you glad that Dave and Connor won ‘The Amazing Race’?
