The CW’s brilliant sci-fi drama The 100 will make its triumphant return in January 2016, set to follow Legends of Tomorrow. It’s about damn time!

‘The 100’ returns Jan. 21, 2016

It has been a hell of a hiatus for fans of The CW’s The 100, a sleeper hit which blew critics away during its much-celebrated sophomore season.

After disguising itself as your typical end-of-the-world teen angst fest, The 100 turned out to be the best show you’re not watching — seriously, watch it, right now.

Fans were faced with an extended wait when the season 2 finale blew our minds in early 2015, however, as The CW chose to skip the fall season and keep the 100 season 3 until 2016.

But, finally, our wait is at an end — The 100 season 3 premieres Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at 9 p.m.

It’s hard to imagine season 3 could possibly top The 100 season 2, which ended on a literal bombshell (yup) that will change the show forever. But we have faith in showrunner Jason Rothenberg and his team, who have proven themselves more than capable of taking familiar TV tropes and turning them on their heads, shaking them, and tossing them out an airlock.

See you in January, The 100 fans! Like last year, Hypable will be providing recaps and fun features to accompany the show!

‘Legends of Tomorrow’ premieres Jan. 21, 2016

The new member of the CW superhero family, Legends of Tomorrow, is set to debut on the same day as The 100, but in the 8 p.m. time slot.

Along with the announcement came a new trailer! Check it out:

Legends of Tomorrow pulls Sara Lance (Caty Lotz) from Arrow, and introduces a new set of heroes: The cast includes Brandon Routh, Victor Garber, Arthur Darvill, and Ciara Renée.

‘The Originals’ and ‘The Vampire Diaries’ move to Fridays, returning Jan. 29, 2016

Meanwhile, Julie Plec’s vampire shows The Vampire Diaries and The Originals are moving to Fridays, where they’ll air in consecutive time slots.

While this shouldn’t necessarily alarm the show’s fans, this news fits in pretty well with the rumor that this is to be The Vampire Diarieslast season.

The Originals has a better chance of renewal, since it’s not yet reached its 100-episode syndication minimum.

Both shows will return on January 29, 2016, at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. respectively. See where The Originals and The Vampire Diaries left off.
