Less than a month away from The 100 season 2 premiere, The CW has released an awesome set of images teasing the episode!

On October 22, The 100 returns after an epic first season with the first episode of season 2, titled “The 48.” This, of course, is how many of the original 100 delinquents are still alive following the battle against the Grounders (though we don’t know if Finn, Bellamy and Raven would count towards this number, should they still be alive).

In the season 1 finale episode “We Are Grounders,” the kids on the ground faced off against Anya (Dichen Lachman) and her army, but after successfully destroying most of their enemies, the group was captured by the “Mountain Men” – a terrifying group of soldiers who seem to be connected to a military facility under Mt. Weather.

On the Arc, the surviving inhabitants made a last-ditch effort to get some of their people to the ground. Chancellor Jaha (Isaiah Washington) sacrificed himself to allow Abby (Paige Turco) and Kane (Henry Ian Cusick) to escape, and miraculously, they made it to Earth.

In the stills released for season 2, episode 1, we see Clarke (Eliza Taylor) trying to escape her cell, but seemingly being captured by the guards and taken to what might be one of the Mt. Weather facility leaders. We also see Abby and Kane facing off against a Grounder on horseback:

The new actor you may or may not recognize is Raymond J. Barry of Justified fame. He will be joining the show in season 2 as Dante Wallace, leader of the Mountain Men.

The promotional images probably reveal what will be the two central storylines in the episode. Notably there are no pictures of Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos) and Lincoln (Ricky Whittle), nor of the characters whose fates are still up in the air: Chancellor Jaha, Finn (Thomas McDonnell), Bellamy (Bob Morley), and Raven (Lindsey Morgan).

For all we know, we won’t even find out what happened to all of them in the first episode – The 100 likes to keep us guessing.

However, an official promotional poster released by The CW shows includes all of the characters mentioned above, indicating that they’ll probably be alive, at least at the start of the season:

Of course this isn’t a guarantee that they’ll survive for long, but it does indicate that we’ll see them alive at least once before they succumb to their injuries (like Raven might), or die trying to rescue Clarke and the others (Finn and Bellamy, please don’t leave us!).

Tell us your predictions for The 100 season 2 premiere episode! Who will survive? Who will die? What do the Mountain Men want from Clarke?

The 100 season 2, episode 1, “The 48,” airs Wednesday, October 22 at 9/8c on The CW.
