Don’t expect Clarke’s life to get easier in The 100 season 2 – at least not according to Eliza Taylor!

The 100 season 2 finally premiered last night! Make sure to check out our recap to see what we thought about the long-awaited episode.

Poor Clarke isn’t having a very good time. Trapped in Mount Weather, she can think about nothing but escaping (despite President Wallace trying to distract her with crayons and dessert), to search for Finn (Thomas McDonell) and Bellamy (Bob Morley).

She’s desperately trying to cling to the belief that they’re alive, despite seeing what was clearly their charred corpses (okay, we know it wasn’t, but that’s cause we know it’s a TV show!).

Speaking to EW, Eliza Taylor explains why it’s so hard for Clarke to admit that they’re most likely dead. “They’re her two guys,” she says.

And now that they’re gone, “she’s heartbroken and she’s going through a lot of self-doubt and blame because she shut that door on them.”

Expect her to continue down that spiral of guilt until she finds out they’re alive (if they all survive that long). “It’s certainly changed her general demeanor,” Taylor explains. “she’s very sad.”

And although she’s got a reunion with her mother Abby (Paige Turco) coming up, there’s a lot of unresolved issues between the two that might put a damper on the joy.

Taylor explains that when Abby last saw Clarke, “she was a scared little girl and now she’s a fierce, strong woman. That’s going to be a bit of a struggle for her to come to terms with in how much Clarke’s changed.”

Basically, poor Clarke is in for a lousy year. “I did want to have a bit more of a laugh,” Taylor admits, “but it’s just gotten darker and darker, and there’s no chance of that.”
