Actor and musician Christopher Larkin, who plays Monty on The 100, has released a new album! The happiest album ever made, in fact.

What a perfect antidote to these increasingly dark and heavy times.

Chris Larkin, star of The 100 (incidentally also known for its dark- and heaviness) and founding member of the band d’Artagnan, has just released a new solo album titled The Happiest Album Ever Made.

It is his second album as a solo artist under the name Carry Hatchet; the debut album The News Today was released in 2015.

The full, happiest album was released on November 13, and is available to purchase for the price of your own choosing.

Last month, Larkin released the first track off the album, the Sufjan Stevens-inspired “Julien.”

Other standout tracks include “Soul Cycle,” “This is How You Lose Your Best Friend,” “Downstrum” and “Grey Blues,” for which a music video has also been released:

Congratulations to Chris Larkin on his album! The Happiest Album Ever Made is a beautiful work through and through, with “Julien,” “Crooked Knife” and “Middlegame” standing out as particular personal favorites.

But really, there is no weak track on this carefully curated, cohesive and evocative work, which has already become a staple of my writing playlist. I can only recommend it, whether or not you’re a The 100 fan.
