Adam Sandler’s latest project, That’s My Boy, co-starring Andy Samberg and James Caan has been rated R for “crude sexual content throughout, nudity, pervasive language and some drug use.” This is Sandler’s first R-rated film made by his Happy Madison production company since 2003’s Anger Management.

In the meantime, he has made Funny People and Reign Over Me outside of his brand, both of which were rated R. Since most of Sandler’s audience has consisted of young teenagers over the past few years, as the quailty of his films has somewhat gone downhill, will this dramatically affect the film’s takings?

R-rated comedies have become more and more successful in recent years, with examples of smash-hits including The Hangover films and Bridesmaids. Will you be encouraged or discouraged to see That’s My Boy because of its stronger rating, or will you even forgive Sandler for Jack and Jill which broke records at the 2012 Golden Raspberry Awards.

That’s My Boy is released on Father’s Day.
