Asgard boosts up with Tessa Thompson, who’s set to play a key role in Thor: Ragnarok. Is she replacing Natalie Portman as the female lead?

While rumor has it that every single Marvel character shows up in Captain America: Civil War, the upcoming Marvel flick is in fact missing two main Avengers: Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo).

Luckily, the pair are set to co-star in the third Thor movie, titled Thor: Ragnarok. Described as a “universal road movie” by Mark Ruffalo, we can probably expect the Thor-Hulk team-up to be somewhat more light-hearted than the intense Civil War — but then again, Ragnarok is the mythological end of the world.

In exciting casting news, The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Tessa Thompson is set to star in the movie, although we don’t yet know what her role will be.

THR does speculate that she might be the new female lead in the movie, as Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster is not set to return for the third installment.

Thompson could last be seen in Creed, starring opposite Fantastic Four‘s Michael B. Jordan. Next up for her is Westworld, a new sci-fi/Western series reimagining the 1973 film of the same name. Thompson’s previous credits include Veronica Mars, Heroes, and 666 Park Avenue.

Flight of the Conchords‘ Taika Waititi will direct Thor: Ragnarok, which features the return of Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif. Cate Blanchett is also rumored to star.

We can’t wait for more details about this film, although we suppose we’ll have to wait until the hype for Captain America: Civil War (which hits theaters on May 6) dies down. Isn’t it such a luxury problem to have too many things to be excited about?!

‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is set for release on November 3, 2017
