Tessa Thompson has just secured her next big screen role and it’s one you’ll definitely want to keep tabs on!

Thor: Ragnarok actress Tessa Thompson has officially joined the cast of a new heist movie where she’ll play famed jewel thief Doris Payne.

Payne, who is still alive and now 87, gained notoriety as an international jewel thief who would enter jewelry stores pretending to be a well-to-do woman. Once there, she’d bamboozle shopkeeps into thinking she was looking for a diamond ring.

Her technique involved charming store clerks while asking to see a variety of items, which would usually cause the workers to forget just how may pieces they’d pull out of the display. Payne would use this to her advantage and lift one or two pieces with the clerks being none the wiser to what was happening until long after she was gone.

Her career as an international jewel thief spanned over six decades, but her most notorious crime involved stealing a 10-carat diamond ring from Monte Carlo in the 1970s.

Details on the project are still sparse, but according to Variety, the untitled action drama will be along the same vein as films like Catch Me If You Can and The Thomas Crown Affair.

Currently, there’s no release date attached to the untitled heist flick. The good news is, Tessa Thompson fans won’t have to wait long to see the breakout star grace the silver screen.

Later this month, Thompson will star opposite Natalie Portman, Oscar Isaac, and Gina Rodriguez in the upcoming fantasy drama Annihilation. Later on this summer, fans will be able to catch her in the Boots Riley comedy Sorry to Bother You.
