Paramount Pictures have released the first Terminator: Genisys trailer starring Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, and Matt Smith.

Terminator: Genisys has been shrouded in secrecy since its inception, but it has a surprisingly talented cast which could rival that of any current blockbuster. The film’s exciting first trailer has just been released, and can be watched below:

“The rules have been reset,” the film’s tagline states. Indeed – but at least Schwarzenegger is back!

Terminator: Genisys, which is scheduled to hit theaters on July 1, 2015, began filming back in May, and the studio has done an excellent job not allowing many leaks to come from set. It’s reported that the film will focus on Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor and her future John Connor son played by Jason Clarke.

Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) is sent back to 1984 to save Sarah from a Terminator that is programmed to kill her. This may all sound very familiar, but the trailer shows us that director Alan Taylor has taken some liberties with the original material.

Doctor Who actor Matt Smith was a surprising (and late) addition to the cast, which should add a new fanbase to the franchise, and Arnold Schwarzenegger has returned as the film’s beloved Terminator.

Game Of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke stars as Sarah Connor and Jason Clarke who plays her son John Connor. Jai Courtney will play the time traveling Kyle Reese, and Day Okeniyi plays Danny Dyson, son of the cyborg developer, Miles Dyson, who was played by actor Joe Morton in Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

This trailer has us excited about the film, and while we don’t know too much about the story except for what we’ve seen previously in the franchise, it’s exciting to see where director Alan Taylor has taken this incredibly talented group of actors.

Terminator: Genisys’ unique plot is being compared to Back to the Future Part II, which will most likely be its most intriguing aspect. Let us know what you think of the film’s first trailer.
