Terminator 5 is apparently a “go” with Arnold Schwarzenegger telling fans the fifth installment of the series is among three sequels he has in the works.

Well, he did say he’d be back. Clearly the former “Governator” of California meant what he said as he is officially returning to the franchise that cemented his place in pop culture history.

It has been ten years since Schwarzenegger has put on the shades and leather jacket, last appearing in The Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (Schwarzenegger’s likeness was created via CGI in 2009’s Terminator Salvation).

This report is coming on the heels of news that Paramount Pictures acquired distribution rights to the Terminator franchise and was planning on a continuation of the story.

In a statement to fans on thearnoldfans.com, Schwarzenegger said, “I am very happy that the studios want me to be in Terminator 5 and to star AS the Terminator, which we start shooting in January…”, laying to rest uncertainty about what character he would play in the rumored sequel.

There was talk that because of his age, Schwarzenegger would be playing a human rather than a terminator.

As of now, there is no word on whether Terminator Salvation stars Christian Bale or Sam Worthington will come on board with the project. Bale played an adult John Connor in Salvation the fourth installment in the series.

In the statement, the star also confirmed that he would be doing sequels to earl career hits, Twins and Conan the Barbarian.

The Twins sequel titled Triplets is in early development stages and Eddie Murphy joining original stars Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito.
