The highly anticipated release of Christopher Nolan’s Tenet has once again been scrapped due to the current coronavirus pandemic.

Fans of director Christopher Nolan will have to wait just a bit longer before they can experience the director’s highly anticipated sci-fi thriller, Tenet.

As with many of 2020’s highly anticipated theatrical releases, the premiere of Tenet has had its intended premiere date affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Originally, the film was slated to hit theaters this past Friday on July 17, but following shutdowns of movie theaters earlier this year, Warner Brothers decided to move the release date for the film back to August 12.

Now, according to Variety, WB has opted to postpone the theatrical release of Tenet.

The decision to do so boils down to the fact that there’s still no telling when the majority of movie theaters will choose to reopen their doors given the current coronavirus pandemic.

So when can fans expect to experience Nolan’s next feature film? Unfortunately, that still remains unclear as of right now.

In a statement announcing the decision to pull the film’s new August 12 release date, Warner Bros., chairman Toby Emmerich said the studio is still looking into assigning the thriller a new release date. The good news is, it seems as though WB is hopeful that Tenet will still hit theaters sometime this year.

“We will share a new 2020 release date imminently for Tenet, Christopher Nolan’s wholly original and mind-blowing feature,” said Emmerich. “Our Goals throughout this process have been to ensure the highest odds of success for our films while also being ready to support our theater partners with content as soon as they could safely reopen.”

Here’s hoping we get a new theatrical release date for Tenet soon!
