The move to realistic fiction adaptations is already underway with If I Stay releasing in August and The D.U.F.F. which begins filming soon. There is also a second John Green novel, Paper Towns, waiting for its time in the spotlight. Lastly, there is Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell, who will be writing the script.

If I Stay is based on the novel by Gayle Forman. Life changes in an instant for young Mia Hall after a car accident puts her in a coma. During an out-of-body experience, she must decide whether to wake up and live a life far different than she had imagined. The movie stars Chloe Moretz and Jamie Blackley in the lead roles.

The D.U.F.F. only just finished casting Mae Whitman in the lead role of Bianca. The cast also includes Robbie Amell from The Tomorrow People and Bella Thorn. The D.U.F.F. is about a high school senior instigating a social pecking order revolution after finding out that she has been labeled the D.U.F.F. (Designated Ugly Fat Friend) to her prettier and more popular friends.

The most recent addition to this line up is We Were Liars by E. Lockhart. The novel was a favorite of our Book Hype staff and is sure to be an interesting film. E. Lockhart will be writing the script for this adaptation.
