Telltale Games, the developer behind the episodic Walking Dead and Game of Thrones game series, has signed a deal with Marvel.
Polygon reports that Telltale Games, which last year signed a TV series/video game hybrid deal with Lionsgate, will be working with Marvel to develop a new line of video games based on Marvel’s properties.
The first game will hit “unspecificed platforms” in 2017, according to Marvel executives.
Marvel Games creative director Bill Roseman used words like “exquisite,” “sexy” and “eye-popping” to describe their upcoming games, adding that the company is striving for an authentic and “hand-crafted” feel.
No news yet on which franchises Telltale might be taking on for Marvel.

Telltale Games was originally founded by LucasArt staff members, and has developed a number of franchise games for various studios since its 2004 launch, including CSI and Wallace & Gromit.
In 2011 they released Jurassic Park: The Game, and in 2012 they really got the attention of TV fans when they launched the episodic Walking Dead video game series.
Earlier this year, Telltale repeated their success with Game of Thrones, premiering the decision-based, wide-scale adventure that has captivated audiences as they’re forced to make impossible choices.
The video game developer is currently working on The Walking Dead: Season 3 and Minecraft: Story Mode.
There are several ways Marvel might use this partnership to further expand their universe. One option is to spin games off popular stories, and another is to take the road less traveled and use Telltale’s choice-based gaming engine to explore lesser-known superheroes and their moral choices.
