Only three shows are premiering this week, but at least they’re a good three! Check out what television shows premiere this week, October 13 – October 19.

We are still going full steam ahead with television premieres. Granted, there are only three this week, but we will continue with these posts through the end of the month. As if your DVR and Tumblr feeds weren’t already crowded enough.

‘Jane The Virgin’ (CW)

Monday, October 13, 9:00 p.m.

The CW’s attempt to recreate the special spark that Ugly Betty had years ago, Jane the Virgin is actually an adaptation of a spanish telenovela (like a soap opera). In discussing this show amongst ourselves, the Hypable staff concluded that despite the questionable premise, critics have been responding favorably.

‘Marry Me’ (NBC)

Tuesday, October 14, 9:00 p.m.

Everyone knows one of the most ah-mah-zing parts about Happy Endings was Penny and the actress who played her, Casey Wilson. After taking a few seasons off to guest star in shows like How I Met Your Mother and tackle some movie roles, most timely, Noelle in Gone Girl, she is back, starring in a show that is very, very loosely based off her own life with now-husband/producer David Caspe. Ken Marino takes the place of Caspe on the show, as the characters, Annie and Jake, navigate the pre-nuptial world of engagement.

The show’s premise is promising, similar to Happy Endings’s sort of happy-go-lucky, we’ll-figure-this-‘life’-thing-out. We’ll definitely be tuning in.

‘About a Boy’ (NBC)

Tuesday, October 14, 9:30 p.m.

This show was met with much speculation when the 13-episode season 1 premiered earlier this year. But despite the fact it’s an adaptation of the movie by the same name, it has been able to become something completely its own, and frankly, very enjoyable. About a Boy season 2 picks up with Will returning home after chasing girlfriend Dr. Samantha Lake (Adrianne Palicki) to New York City. Home for only 36 hours, Will plans on hanging out with Marcus, but has Marcus actually grown apart from his mother and Will?
