Arrow star Stephen Amell has been tapped to co-star as Casey Jones in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.

Megan Fox will be returning for the film’s sequel, which was a reboot of the very popular ’90s movies, and despite critics not being too kind to it, the film ended up making $485 million at the box office.

Director David Green is helming the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel, while information concerning the film’s plot and other cast returning is currently unknown.

Casey Jones became a huge fan-favorite back in the ’90s, when actor Elias Koteas played him. If you ever went out on Halloween during the ’90s, you’ve definitely seen some people dressed up as the character from the film. He likes to wear a mask and uses a hockey stick to beat the crap out of criminals, and he’s a pretty hilarious character.

He’s basically a loner, who later becomes an ally of the Ninja Turtles, and is somewhat of a love interest for Megan Fox’s character, April O’Neil. Michael Bay will be producing the second film, with Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec currently working on the sequel’s script.

Variety reports that Stephen Amell tested with a “half-dozen actors over the weekend, but it was his chemistry with Fox that led to the studio eventually giving the role to the star of CW’s Arrow.”

Currently, Paramount has not released an official comment on Amell’s casting, but it looks like this is a solid report, and the Arrow star will be playing the iconic character. The sequel was given a greenlight after the first film’s early success, with the release date being set for 2016.
