In the same vein as the Hogwarts sorting, we thought it would be fun to host our own Choosing Day, Divergent style, and see what factions our favorite Teen Wolf characters would choose if they were given the choice.

It’s Teen Wolf Takeover month on Hypable.com, and today we’ve hosted our very own Choosing Day. Read all of our TWT articles here and submit your own!

Earlier this month we sorted all of our favorite Teen Wolf characters into the Hogwarts houses, and it made us all think about the different ways we can see them. This time, we decided to give the factions of Divergent a try.

Derek Hale

Dauntless

The qualities that Dauntless prizes above all others are bravery and courage, and we think Derek Hale is a firm possessor of both.

What he lacks in self-esteem and even common sense sometimes, he more than makes up for with a willingness to put himself in harm’s way to save others, demonstrated most profoundly in season 3 when he literally put himself between Boyd and Cora to save a stranger, Ms. Blake, from a terrible fate.

Scott McCall

Abnegation

As any good Divergent fan knows, the Abnegation prizes similar qualities to the Dauntless, but rather than valuing the bravery of a selfless act, they value the ability to forget oneself entirely, and focus as much of their existence to helping others as much as possible.

Scott McCall, while also brave and a bit reckless at times, has mastered the art of forgetting oneself. He consistently throws himself in harm’s way in order to save others, not only in instances of danger, but when their embarrassment or self-esteem may be in danger.

Stiles Stilinski

Candor

Stiles has the innate ability to tell the truth. He doesn’t usually sugar coat it, nor does he try and hide it, as he truly seems to believe that the truth will set him free. This isn’t exactly a dystopian society, so the need for absolute truth at all times does not apply, but if Stiles found himself stranded in the world of Divergent, we can’t help but believe he would pick Candor.

Now, that said, if any of the Teen Wolf characters were to be Divergent, it would clearly be Stiles. He has an affinity for Candor, yes, but he also has the ability to see knowledge at any cost, like the Erudite, and throw himself into harms way to save someone else, like the Abnegation. We think Stiles himself would choose Candor, whether he was Divergent or not, but we know where he truly belongs.

Alison Argent

Dauntless

Again perhaps the hardest to place, and maybe it’s because she has such an affinity for many different factions, we think that if Alison had to choose, she would choose Dauntless. As far as honesty and kindness goes, Alison has them at her fingertips and uses them often, however, they aren’t exactly her defining characteristics. She is also ready to help others at the drop of a hat and values her education and thirst for knowledge, but again, that is not what defines her.

She is brave, and brave to a fault sometimes, sticking her nose into things that may be better left alone. We think Alison would choose Dauntless because she values her bravery, and we think she would want everyone else to know that she values it too.

Lydia Martin

Erudite

There are many ways that Lydia displays Erudite characteristics, but nothing illustrates it better than when they are all trapped in the school with no more options for escape and she shows them all how to make Molotov cocktails. Her uncanny way of knowing exactly what the Beacon Hills scooby gang needs is all but unnerving, but they are lucky to have her.

She is always ready at a moment’s notice to spill all the valuable information in that ever-thirsty brain of hers. Also, her striving for the Fields Medal and being able to speak Archaic Latin really seal the deal.

Danny Mahealani

Amity

There are very few people that seem truly fit for Amity. Kindness is a hard trait to put importance on, as many people would describe themselves as kind, but not to a fault. Danny is one such person. He is more often than anyone, kind. He is always ready to lend a hand and help out anyone looking for help. He was also instrumental in balancing out the often cruel nature of Jackson, who was Danny’s opposite in many ways, and may be why they made such great friends.

Isaac Lahey

Dauntless

Always ready at a moments notice to jump into action, Isaac Lahey was born for Dauntless. He may not think through everything he does, but that’s just another reason we think he’d willingly jump straight into the crazy, fast-paced world of Dauntless. After all, he did jump straight into battle when the twins attacked him and Scott at cross country practice.

He also has an insatiable need for justice and will stop at nothing to avenge those that have had wrongs done to them, all of which lands him unshakably in Dauntless. Oh, and we think he’d be first jumper… How could be not??

Vernon Boyd

Abnegation

The selflessness and ability to forget oneself in the midst of others is something few people in Beacon Hills can truly claim as their most definitive feature, but Vernon Boyd is clearly one very rare example.

Whether it is due to low self-esteem, or just a penchant for worrying about others first, Boyd is above and beyond Abnegation. He is a loyal and devoted pack member to Derek, looking to keep the rest safe, even when it means running. When he and Erica tried to run for their lives, he did his best to protect her in the only way he knew how, to sacrifice himself. We think it’s an honor to mark Boyd as the only clearly Abnegation character on Teen Wolf, and we think he’d agree.
