Since season one, Teen Wolf has granted us with some pretty spectacular moments, but every episode has its own feel and energy – some better than others.

So, we’ve taken on the ultimate challenge and picked five episodes that showcase Teen Wolf at its best.

1×12 – ‘Code Breaker’

Even though season 1 of Teen Wolf is spectacular (the NUMBER of quotes that the fandom still clings to from that first year), the show as a whole took a little while to find its footing. But what it finally discovered is that strength lies in pack. Seeing everyone work together against a common goal is what the fans are here for. Buffy had the ‘Scooby Gang’ – we have ‘Pack’. Not only is everyone tied together in this episode, but the story itself is fulfilling as well. We got to see two big bads clash, Allison and Scott grow as a couple, Stiles have one of his first hero moments, and Derek finally get a tiny bit of resolution. That’s how you close off your first season of television.

2×08 – ‘Raving’

Every time you watch this episode, there is something more to love about it. The kids may have found themselves working together last year during 1×12, but this is the first time that the Hale Pack and the McCall Pack actively collaborate. This episode doesn’t hold anything back and virtually everyone gets a moment to shine and the payoff is so worth it. There’s horror and drama. Some sexual frustration induced by teenage hormones. Enough supernatural stuff to keep things interesting. And of course a fight sequence or two to round it all off. We see a range of feels and emotions from each character, and the group as a whole become more dynamic and interesting players.

2×09 – ‘Party Guessed’

After coming off the high of “Raving,” you’d think Teen Wolf would give us a second to compose ourselves. Nope. The action and quality just keeps coming with ‘Party Guessed’. Most high school shows have their kids at social events every other week because that’s where the drama and sexual tension is at its highest, and it’s kind of the same on Teen Wolf. Except here the kids don’t just become intoxicated. They become supernaturally drugged and start seeing their worst fears play out before them. What ISN’T entertaining about that? Although containing some light and fun moments, this episode packs a punch. From Stiles’ hallucination about his dad, to Victoria’s farewell to Chris, and Jackson’s visions of his biological parents. It’s a lot.

3×02 – ‘Chaos Rising’

“Chaos Rising” came in this year and hit fandom with a one-two punch. If you didn’t find something to love in this episode, you probably shouldn’t be watching Teen Wolf. Because this is it guys. This is the show. This is just about as good as it gets. (So far.) Not only are we seamlessly introduced to new characters and themes of the season, we also get to see the characters we love in a new light. We get to see the Derek and Isaac’s Alpha/Beta relationship, Stiles macking on a childhood friend, and the whole pack together TALKING and being SNARKY. Not to mention, about seven ships get a little nod or encouragement. Plot, humor, romance, suspense… What, pray tell, more could we ask for?

3×06 – ‘Motel California’

When the Teen Wolf series is complete, this is going to be one of those stand-out episodes. Not only is it a genre episode, it also takes our show to a whole new level. Somehow they managed to ‘try something new’ without losing the essence of the show at all. Again, the episode is all about building new relationship dynamics. Feeding the fandom desire to know how Allison, Stiles, and Lydia would team up to save their superhuman friends. Put them in the drivers seat and let them grow individually as well as a group. Plus, Lydia finally (FINALLY!!) gets to be the hero for once – literally putting her life on the line for her friends, and we get to see the bravery and strength we’ve known to be bubbling under the surface all along.
