MTV just dropped a new Teen Wolf season 6 trailer online, and it hammers home the fact that Stiles, and the pack’s love for him, will be the center of the show’s final arc.

Teen Wolf season 6 has a lot of loose ends to wrap up in its final episodes — none more so than whether Stiles and Lydia will become Beacon Hills’ big endgame couple by the end of the series. This pairing has had a very slow burn over the past six years. Snowballing in popularity recently, it looks as if all the Stydia fans out there are going to get their wish in a tragic and foreboding preview of the upcoming season.

‘Showtime’

This new Teen Wolf season 6 trailer opens — and returns to — a scene between Stiles and Lydia in the Jeep, where Stiles gets ready to be taken by the Ghost Riders and ultimately forgotten. Interestingly, despite Lydia urging him to run, Stiles seems to be allowing himself to be taken — perhaps we’ll see him willingly venturing into this other realm to save those who have already been forgotten?

He urges Lydia to find a way to remember him and — at long last — tells her that he loves her. There’s even a flashback to the would-be couple’s only kiss, way back in season 3’s “Alpha Pact.”

But hang onto your hats, Stydia fans — to get such an important reveal in a trailer is surely too good to be true. If we’re seeing Stiles say “I love you” now, what’s still to come must be even bigger and better — or will it be bigger and worse?

‘What if we’re all missing the same person?’

The trailer also features Stiles’ other loved ones — particularly Scott, Malia and Sheriff Stilinski — struggling to remember the existence of the boy who first captured our hearts all those years ago by hanging upside-down off of a roof. Scott hears echoes of some of his most meaningful moments — think “Motel California” — with the best friend he doesn’t know he has, and Stiles himself is confronted by Peter Hale — another victim — in the dimension of those who have been taken.

Even more upsetting is the Sheriff, Stiles’ dad, challenging Lydia about why he should care about this phantom of a son who he doesn’t believe in.

On a related note — maybe it’s just us, but does the official MTV Teen Wolf Twitter seem to be pulling a Stiles as well? The account still exists when you follow a direct link, but in general, it has “vanished” — it’s not showing up on Twitter feeds unless retweeted, and the option to select the verified account seems to have been eliminated from the autocomplete on the search and reply functions. If this is part of their whole season 6 #remember marketing campaign — kudos. If it’s not… whoops.

Teen Wolf season 6 premieres Tuesday, November 15 at 9:00 p.m. ET on MTV.
