Teen Wolf season 5B will air in January, but we just got a whole lot of information on what we can expect next year.

Creator Jeff Davis spoke with EW about the second half of Teen Wolf season 5 and what fans can expect from Parrish, Theo, Lydia, and even Roscoe the Jeep.

One of the biggest questions answered in the Teen Wolf season 5 summer finale was what sort of supernatural creature Deputy Parrish is. We learned he’s a Hellhound, and that he’s part of the Wild Hunt.

Speaking with EW, Davis explains, “We always knew that we wanted to tie Parrish’s story back to that first big storm and give a first clue as to what he is.”

“We ended up [choosing the Hellhound] because we knew that we wanted Parrish’s role to be morally on the fence,” Davis says. Parrish’s role is that he’s “a guardian of a supernatural place,” and “we’re going to find out just what that role entails in season 5B and how dangerous it’s going to become for the rest of the characters.”

Considering Davis said one of the figures in the fresco at the end is a Hellhound, we’re sure Parrish is going to be a big factor in season 5B and the Dread Doctors’ plans.

The theme for season 5B is resurrection, both literally (with the now very not dead chimeras) and metaphorically (the reformation of Scott’s pack). We’re also seeing a lot of characters coming back, including Valack (“he’s not exactly the bad guy he might seem to be”), the Desert Wolf (“she’s going to cross paths with Theo actually and they’re going to find that they might have more common goals than they know”), and Braeden.

But if you’re looking for more of a throwback than Braeden (who was last seen in the season 4 finale), you’re in luck. Void Stiles could maybe come back. Davis says, “That’s part of the darkness still lurking inside of Stiles and he’ll have the fear that, is it more than just being possessed? Is there something inside that he has to keep a lid on?”

We’re even more unsure about some other characters. Derek could potentially make a return, and Davis says there is even hope for Roscoe the Jeep: “Light a candle for the Jeep because the Jeep could still return.”

Perhaps most interestingly, Kira will come back in a big way as well. According to Davis, she’ll be getting her own episode with her mother, which will explore what is going on with her fox spirit. EW teases there’s “a possibility for a familiar face/place,” which makes us wonder if we’ll be seeing Kate, Chris, Araya, or someone else entirely.

We also wouldn’t be surprised if this episode was used to test audiences for interest in a Kira-centric show. It’s been a while, but Davis has said in the past that he’d love to do a spinoff show centered around Kitsunes.

But all of these changes will take their toll. Having been resurrected, Hayden and the other chimeras will have a touch of darkness to them, and Scott and Stiles will have trouble getting back to where their friendship was at the start of the season. Lydia will also be committed to Eichen House since Theo forcibly entered her mind to find the location of the Nemeton, bringing us one step closer to what we saw of her in the premiere this year.

Teen Wolf season 5 will return in January 2016 with the final 10 episodes. Season 5, episode 11 will take place on the same night as episode 10, meaning there will be no time jump between the two parts.
