Teen Wolf season 5 rumors abound, and one of the strongest is that an old face will be returning to the show this year.

The truth is, an old character is actually supposed to be returning this season, but everyone is as silent as The Mute when it comes to naming names.

In an interview with People, Holland Roden (Lydia Martin) states, “As far as actors coming back, there’s always so many different forms in which they can come back, but that’s all I’ll say.”

Executive Producer Russell Mulcahy adds, “The people that didn’t die, there’s a chance they may come back.” But even if a character died, the EP suggests, “As long as you have your head on, you’re fine.”

So, that dude that delivered the keg in season 4 has no chance.

But, this leaves open a lot of doors. As Roden suggested, even if a character died, they could come back in a different form. Could Allison (Crystal Reed) return as a ghost or in a vision? Could Victoria Argent (Eaddy Mays) make an appearance as a werewolf (a fan-favorite theory)?

Peter Hale and Kate Argent most famously returned after seemingly dying in season 1, so we wouldn’t be too shocked if someone else popped up from the dead either. The probability of Reed returning is slim, having asked to be written off the show in order to pursue other avenues. However, it should be noted that Reed did show up with the cast at PaleyFest this year, with no explanation given. Could this be a clue?

Mays, on the other hand, is still deeply involved in the Teen Wolf fandom and shares a lot of passion for the show and her character. She’s often talks about what she would do to enact justice for Allison’s death.

There are plenty of other characters who haven’t died but have slipped away for various reasons. Both Colton Haynes (Jackson Whittemore) and Daniel Sharman (Isaac Lahey) were written off the show in such a way that they could return (having gone to England and France, respectively). Haynes recently left Arrow, giving him the opportunity to return to Teen Wolf. Meanwhile, Sharman has been cast in the medical drama LFE.

A few other plausible options include Keahu Kahuanui (Danny Mahealani), Michael Hogan (Gerard Argent), and Gideon Emery (Deucalion). Danny didn’t appear at all in Teen Wolf season 4 after dropping the truth bomb of knowing that werewolves exist at the end of season 3B. Gerard survived his mountain ash poisoning with dire consequences, though appeared to be getting healthier the last time we saw him. His condition and current whereabouts have been unknown since season 3A. Deucalion was sent on his way at the end of season 3A with a stern warning from both Scott and Derek.

All in all, we’ve got a lot of options here. While all of them are certainly plausible (this is Teen Wolf after all), we’ll just have to wait to see who ends up coming back.

Who do you think will be returning for ‘Teen Wolf’ season 5?
